LOUISVILLE, Ky (April 27, 2026): This year marks a special tradition for Kentucky Native and Country Music Trailblazer JD Shelburne as he returns to the Kentucky Derby for the 12th time.

A proud Kentucky native raised on a tobacco farm in Taylorsville, JD has always carried his home state with him everywhere his music takes him. From thousands of shows across the country to national television appearances and his Grand Ole Opry debut, his journey has been deeply rooted in the culture, pride, and traditions of the Bluegrass State. Few events represent that Kentucky spirit more than Derby Day at Churchill Downs.

Over the years, Derby Week has become more than just a date on the calendar for JD — it’s a reunion with friends, fans, and fellow Kentuckians, a celebration of heritage, and a chance to be part of one of the most iconic sporting and cultural events in the world. Whether he’s attending festivities, performing around the city, or simply soaking in the pageantry of “The Run for the Roses,” JD’s presence has become a familiar part of Derby tradition.

Twelve Derbies later, the excitement hasn’t faded. For JD Shelburne, it’s still about honoring where he came from, celebrating Kentucky on the world stage, and enjoying a timeless tradition that never gets old

Shelburne has attended and performed at over 150 events during Derby Week and is known for his custom dazzling outfits at events and on red carpets, including Unbridled Eve, Kentucky Oaks, and the Kentucky Derby.

If you are in the area, make sure you also stop by the Kentucky Derby Museum to see JD Shelburne’s 2025 Kentucky Derby Jacket on display!

The Unbridled Eve Derby Gala will host JD Shelburne and his wife, Amy, for the 10th time. Get your tickets here: www.unbridledeve.com
