FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky’s own JD Shelburne is coming home once again.
The Kentucky State Fair proudly welcomes back Taylorsville native and longtime fair favorite JD Shelburne for his sixth appearance on the Main Stage as part of the Texas Roadhouse Concert Series on Thursday, August 20, opening night of the 2026 Kentucky State Fair.
For Shelburne, the Kentucky State Fair has always been more than just a concert stop—it’s been part of his story. A lifelong supporter of the fair, his journey began in 2006 when he first appeared in the Coca Cola Talent Contest in the West Wing and then started his tradition in 2008 when the rising country artist performed in the popular Sivori Country Tent for 5-consective nights in a row as headliner, where he entertained fairgoers for five consecutive years with his band, bringing crowds from all over the state.
In 2013, Shelburne made the leap to the Main Stage, performing alongside country hitmakers Montgomery Gentry, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career and a record crowd that particular night. Since then, the proud Kentucky boy has continued to leave his mark on the fair, including performances inside Old Cardinal Stadium and a memorable appearance with the legendary Oak Ridge Boys during their 49th Anniversary celebration in 2023 performing “Amazing Grace” a part of their set as special guest.
“Growing up in Kentucky, the State Fair has always been special to me and a bucket list gig,” said Shelburne. “To come back year after year and share these moments with fans from across the Commonwealth means the world. It truly feels like coming home.”
With a career built on hard work, hometown pride, and thousands of live performances including the Grand Ole Opry, Shelburne’s return promises to be one of the highlights of opening night festivities.
Don’t miss JD Shelburne live on Thursday, August 20, as he kicks off the 2026 Kentucky State Fair’s Texas Roadhouse Concert Series sharing the bill with Cooper Alan celebrating another unforgettable homecoming in the Bluegrass State.
